Monica Wood Receives "Distinguished Service Award" From National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club, Inc.


Charlotte, NC (BlackNews.com) - Monica Wood, president and owner of MWPR, Inc. (Monica Wood Public Relations firm), received the 2007 "Distinguished Service Award", given by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club, Incorporated – Baltimore City Club. The award Wood received read that she was being honored "in recognition of her entrepreneurial contributions that have parlayed her into a profitable business".

The award was presented during NANBPWC's 66th Annual Founder's Day Luncheon, held June 16th, at the Forum Caterers in Baltimore, Md. Several professionals were also recognized for their achievements and commitment to making a significant impact within the communities they represent. The award categories included: Distinguished Service, Man of the Year, Business, Appreciation, Professional Achievement, Community Service, Scholarship and Sojourner Truth.

Wood shared with the luncheon attendees, "When I took the leap of faith December 2003, first resigning from my corporate job, ending 12 years of working for someone else and then deciding to open my own PR firm, my plans and dreams never included ever being honored or recognized." "Receiving this honor makes me believe that I am indeed doing what God intends for me to do," she continued.
