Stress Down & Lift Up
Impacts the lives of African-American women

Silver Spring, MD (BlackNews.com) - In her latest release Stress
Down and Lift UP!, author Renee Wiggins tackles the
causes and effective solutions of stress. Since its debut, many have
found the book to be a proven necessity in achieving and maintaining
a healthier lifestyle.
Though intended and helpful to all, Stress Down and Lift UP! is
gaining a life-changing reputation amongst African-American women.
Wiggins, a notable health and wellness expert, wrote Stress Down and
Lift UP! after one of her colleagues suffered a severe heart attack
because of pressures resulting from being self-employed and caring
for her family. Wiggins states, "In this turbulent world, African
American women suffer more than any other ethnic group, so I wanted
to share some of my experiences on how to effectively reduce these
stressors in our lives."
It is reported that African-American women who have high blood
pressure have an 85% higher rate of medical care visits, as opposed
to White women who have a 37% rate. Wiggins reports, "Most Black
women wear many hats: career and church activities, care-taking for
family and/or being a single mom. If not managed well, the pressures
of these conditions can create a multitude of health problems, which
includes stress and high blood pressure." And she's right. Across
the board, ranging from heart disease to diabetes, Black women do,
in fact, suffer the most.
"Most of my clients come in twice a week for a massage because the
stress that they carry is too overbearing;" retorts Wiggins,
"however, the massage only offers temporary relief. If a person
wants lasting results, regardless of their background, they must
mindfully make changes in their lives that will help them to
reorganize and set order to daily tasks and routines; thus, reducing
stress and the health issues thereof."
Through helpful illustrations and graphics, Stress Down and Lift UP!
teaches the following:
- How to react positively to negative events or situations.
- How to change and re-organize thought processes.
- How to perform deep breathing exercises and progressive
relaxation techniques to reduce tension, anxiety and stress.
- How to relax through yoga, mediation and reflexology.
