Throughout 2006 and the years before that, a coalition of people and organizations have worked very hard to save lives and relieve the situation in Darfur. Read about the background of the conflict in Darfur.

A tremendous lot has been achieved by this coalition of conscience.

  • It has created global awareness about the Darfur situation and helped to keep events in Darfur ever present in people's minds.
  • It has helped galvanize the international effort to persuade the government in Sudan to quickly end the conflict and stop the suffering and death in Darfur.

"But the violence in the region is like a brush fire in the dry season - the crisis is spreading to neighboring Chad and the Central African Republic." -- Save Darfur Coalition.
